Imagine…

You jump out of bed then enjoy a little “me time” while you knock out a quick – but effective – workout, grab a healthy breakfast, and you’re out the door and on with your day. Your schedule is full but fullfilling with plenty of time for family, friends, and fun, and you enjoy every minute of it becuase you are feeling comfortable and confident in your clothes – and out of them, too! You have more than enough energy to get through the day and after a dinner that feeds your soul as much as it fuels your body, you drift away into a deep peaceful sleep…

If only you could lose some weight, tighten up those thunder thighs, walk up stairs without huffing and puffing, and maybe even cross running a 5K off your bucket list, you would feel more comfortable in your own skin. You would rock some shorts, sundresses and (gasp!) swimsuits – maybe even a 2 piece – and you would never hide in baggy sweats again! You would have the confidence to go out on dates or have more fun in the bedroom with your spouse. You would feel proud of yourself for taking the time to do something for you for a change. And you would feel better – you would feel AMAZING!

But right now…

You’re not feeling amazing. You’re feeling “fat.” And tired. And frustrated. And insecure. You have a closet full of clothes that you can’t fit into, and you refuse to buy anything in the next size up. So you’re avoiding social events (and/or dating) becuase you feel self-conscious and uncomfortable in your too-tight jeans. You’re changing clothes in the bathroom or closet and rushing to get under the sheets before your spouse comes in, and instead of enjoying sex you’re obsessing about your squishy & jiggly parts.

 You know that eating healthier and working out will make a difference, but the gym is just so overwhelming and you don’t know what to do on your own, so you drown your frustration in a bowl of ice cream or a couple of glasses of wine and vow to start exercising and eating right tomorrow…

But nothing seems to work! With most of these you ended up putting on more weight than when you started. If only there was some way to fit everything in, have some fun, and get results… now that would be amazing!

Believe it or not, I do know how it feels…

Even as a personal trainer, I have struggled with my weight and my body image. I am not one of those people naturally blessed with the motivation and discipline needed to eat clean and exercise hard every day. I have to work hard at saying fit and healthy, and some days (weeks/months/years) are fitter and healthier than others.

Just like you, I have searched for the “magic bullet” and tried all the quick fixes. Just like you, I feel overwhelmed when I walk into a new gym or fitness class. Just like you, I have “fat” days and “ugly” days and days that I get home from work and shove an entire bag of mini candy bars in my pie-hole while I binge-watch old episodes of Grey’s Anatomy. Just like you, I often feel overwhelmed and underappreciated, and after I have taken care of everything I NEED to do, there is no time left for the things that I WANT to do.

But I have found – and you will, too – that when I take care of myself FIRST I am exponentially better at taking care of everything and everyone else and I can fit so much more into the same 24 hours. When I take care of myself first I am happier, healthier, more confident, more peaceful, more joyful, more passionate, and more fun to be around. The best part is that you can put yourself first, too, and I would love to share my experience to help you!
